A Kaduna State High Court, on Wednesday, freed Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
El-Zakzaky and his wife were freed of all charges levelled against them.
They were facing charges bordering on culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace by the Kaduna State Government.
The government also accused them of being responsible for the death of a soldier when soldiers massacred over 300 protesting Shiites in December 2015.
In a ruling, which lasted for over eight hours, Justice Gideon Kurada upheld the no-case submission filed by Zakzaky and his wife.
