A house wife, Salimot Akinbode, has told a Customary Court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, that Kazeem, her husband, usually beats her and destroys her properties whenever there is a disagreement between them, hence, their union should be dissolved.

The mother-of-two told the court that her husband was temperamental and was always manhandling her at the slightest provocation. She alleged that he sometimes accused her of infidelity without having any proof.

She said that she was tired of being battered by her husband, hence, she preferred to walk out of their nine-year-old marriage.

Salimot explained to the court that she had reported the matter to her husband’s family members and her own family members in her quest for peace but her efforts proved abortive.

She predicated her prayer at the court on provocation, lack of love, threat to life, absence of peace of mind, battery and destruction of her properties.

She said, “I want the court to dissolve our marriage. I am tired of living under the same roof with him; my husband is fond of accusing me of adultery without any proof. He beats me and destroys my properties in the process,” she said.

In his defence, the estranged husband admitted to the allegation that he battered his wif, saying that he could not stand his wife engaging in infidelity.

However, the man said that he was not ready for a divorce with his wife as a result of the love that he had for her. He told the court that he would, henceforth take good care of the woman and their children.

The President of the court, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, advised the estranged couple to return home to settle their differences.
She adjourned the case for further hearing.
