The Academic Board of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa has approved the restructuring of part-time programmes at the Higher National Diploma level for the working class, who, for reason of employment cannot attend regular HND programmes.
The Board gave the approval at a meeting it held recently.
Also, the Board has fixed the duration of years for part-time National Diploma and Higher National Diploma at two years of six semesters.
In a notice signed by the Polytechnic Registrar, Alh. Abdulhamid Raji, the institution would run ND part-time programmes in Computer Science, Food Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Insurance, Library and Information, Mass Communication and Office Technology and Management.
Others are Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management, Surveying and Geo-informatics.
At HND level, the Polytechnic would run programmes in Computer Science, Food Technology, Science Laboratory Technology (Biology/ Microbiology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics with Electronics), Statistics, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Insurance, Marketing, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Office Technology Management (OTM), Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology (Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Power and Machine Engineering), Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering, Power and Plant Engineering), Civil Engineering, Building Technology and Quantity Surveying.
According to the notice, part-time HND graduates would be exempted from participating in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.
