A Federal High Court sitting in Gyadi Gyadi, Kano has jailed a foreign exchange dealer, Ali Zanda, for fraud.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arraigned Zanda for defrauding staff members of Bayero University, Kano.
The prosecution witness told the court that Zanda obtained various sums of money from the university workers and promised to trade in online foreign exchange for profit on their behalf.
The prosecution witness further told the court that investigations revealed that the convict collected monies from the complainants but converted same to personal use.
The defendant pleaded with the court for leniency.
The court sentenced Zanda to four months in jail with option of N400,000 fine.
