The Governor Mai Mala Buni-chaired Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has appointed the governors of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu and Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman to unify and strengthen the party in Anambra state ahead of the elections following the recently-concluded All Progressives Congress primaries to elect the party’s flag bearer for the November 6, governorship elections.

The two party leaders are charged with the responsibility of bringing together all the erstwhile aspirants and their supporters to join the campaign organisation of the party and achieve victory for the APC in the state.

Chairman of CECPC, Buni mandated the two governors to do everything reasonable and necessary to ensure that all feuding parties, erstwhile aspirants and their supporters close ranks and work for the APC to re-soundly defeat contestants fielded by other political parties.

In a statement signed by the National Secretary CECPC, Sen. John Akpanudodehe, the party said, “We look forward to a unified front and a shared commitment to support the party before, during and after the election.

The June 26 primary elections of the party in the state which produced Senator Andy Ubah as the APC flagbearer was rejected by 11 out of the 14 aspirants claiming that there was no election.

APC has since set up an Appeals Committee headed by the governor of Gombe state Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya which concluded its assignment and submitted the report on 5 of this month.

In another development, the governor Buni-led CECPC has also constituted a three-member committee to run the affairs of the party in the crisis-ridden Zamfara state chapter.

“The party assures all concerned that it shall ensure that inclusiveness, fairness and transparency are maintained”

The three-member commitee to be headed by Senator Hassan Mohammed Gusau also has Muntari Ahmed Anka as Deputy Chairman while Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi will serve as the Secretary.

The step followed the recent positive development in the Zamfara State Chapter of the party and the approval by the CECPC to dissolve the leadership structure of the party organs in the State.

According to the statement signed by the National Secretary of the CECPC Send John Akpanudodehe “The CECPC hereby strongly appeals to those directly affected by this action to show understanding and consider this a sacrifice made for the growth of the party.

“The party assures all concerned that it shall ensure that inclusiveness, fairness and transparency are maintained (which are the composite ethos of our party) by the new leadership on all fronts.”

APC once again, congratulated the executive governor of the state, Bello Matawalle as he leads his State into the fold of the Progressives assuring him that together the party shall win.
