Police arrest father for reportedly killing 23-year-old son

Men of the Kano State Police Command have arrested one Usman Garba, resident of Unguwar Makera in Takai Local Government Area of Kano, over his alleged complicity in the murder of his biological son, Saidu Usman.

The police command said that the suspect was apprehended for his alleged involvement in the killing of his son.

An eyewitness, Musa Takai, who said that Saidu died in a mysterious circumstance, explained that he was lying lifeless in a pool of blood inside his room.
“We called the police for help; they arrived and took him to the hospital. Later, we heard the news that Saidu was dead,” he said.

The Command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed his death, said the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 28.

Kiyawa said, “On Tuesday, June 28, at about 10:30am, the police received a distress call from Unguwar Makera.

“When our men got there, they found one Saidu Usman, 23-year-old; he was inside his room, soaked in blood.

“Our men quickly took him to the hospital for medical care, where the doctors confirmed that he was dead.”

Kiyawa disclosed that the police had arrested the father of the deceased, explaining that during a preliminary investigation into the incident, a knife stained with blood was recovered.

He said that the knife was “wrapped in a cloth and hidden inside the room of Usman Garba, father of the deceased.”

The police added that one Rilwanu Usman, elder brother of the deceased, had also been arrested for his alleged complicity in the murder of his sibling.
According to him, the case has been transfer to the SCID at Bompai for further investigation.
