The members of Ebonyi State House of assembly Abakaliki have turned down written apology letter sent to it by the state commissioner for Capital city development Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

Recall that Nwebonyi was recently officially petitioned to the state lawmakers by about 62 residents of the state capital for alledged illegal destruction of their properties and means of livelihoods, which prompted him to make some unguided utterances, hence the need for appology.

The lawmakers rejected the appology letter as read by the Speaker Francis Nwifuru at their plenary during matter of urgent public importance and referred it to the adhoc committee already investigating the matter.

Deputy speaker of the house Odefa Obasi , the deputy leader Kingsley Ikoro among other lawmakers during deliberations frowned at negative attitudes and utterances of the commissioner against the lawmakers and insisted that he must appear before the house for questioning after investigation of their adhoc committee.

Meanwhile the house also screened and confirmed governor David Umahi’s nominees for the positions of commissioners and management committe members.
