Police arrest man, 25, for killing brother in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Saidu Umar, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Shehu Abdullahi Umar.

The suspect was said to have inflicted Umar, aged 45, with severe injury, which allegedly led to his death during a fight.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident to The Point, said the tragedy occurred in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state recently.

According to him, the deceased was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Kiyawa said, “At about 5pm on June 16, we received a report in Kumbotso Local Government Area that one Saidu Umar, male, 25 years old, committed homicide.”

The PPRO confirmed that the suspect was in police custody, adding that police investigations were still ongoing to unravel the cause.

He further disclosed that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

He added that on completion of police investigation, Saidu would be charged to court.
