A suicide bomber was, on Tuesday, killed in Ebonyi State, when a suicide vest he wore exploded and tore him to pieces.
The incident was said to have occurred around 12noon, in Afikpo town, Afikpo Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said the deceased suicide bomber tried to enter Amaizu/Amangballa Primary School but could not gain entrance.
The school security was said to have turned him back because he couldn’t give a cogent reason for wanting to enter the school.
“Then he immediately started to run to a nearby bush and after a few minutes, a loud bang was heard when the bomb exploded. Residents ran helter-skelter,” a source said.
It was learnt that the suspected suicide bomber was later discovered dead in a pool of his blood.
The upper part of his body was said to have been completely torn by the bomb explosion.
Commissioner for Internal Security, Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said he had yet to get the details.
