SALIHU Tanko-Yakassai, Special Adviser on Media to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, who was sacked for criticising the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, has relocated overseas.
The controversial former government official, who is known for criticising the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress and damning the consequences, disclosed this in a tweet on Wednesday.
Though he did not mention where he was travelling to, he bade farewell to Nigeria.
“Japa …Goodbye Naija! Alhamdulilah,” he said in the tweet, while sharing images of himself at the airport.
THE POINT had reported that Tanko-Yakasai said the APC administration at all levels had failed Nigerians in the area of protecting lives and property.
His comment came moments after the news of the abduction involving female students of Government Secondary School, in Jangebe, Zamfara State, broke.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle, Ganduje’s spokesperson had described the insecurity situation under the APC government as a shame and also called on the government to deal with terrorists decisively or resign.
“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign,” he tweeted.
The Department of State Services arrested him shortly after, saying that the arrest followed issues beyond the expression of opinion in the social media.
The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Peter Afunanya, who announced this, had said, “This is to confirm that Salihu Tanko-Yakasai is with the DSS and he is being investigated over issues beyond the expression of opinions in the social media as wrongly alleged by sections of the public.”
Recall that the former media aide to the Kano Governor had criticised President Muhammadu Buhari during the #EndSARS protest last October, for failing to address Nigerians.
His principal suspended him for unguarded utterances, having accused the President of lacking empathy for Nigerians, but reinstated him later.
