SIX notorious bandits have surrendered 20 AK 47, one Rocket Propelled Machine Gun (RPG), one Anti- Aircraft Riffle, one GPM and 27 magazines.
The bandits surrendered the arms as they embraced the ongoing peace negotiation initiated by Governor Bello Muhammad of Zamfara State.
The repentant bandits reportedly operated one of the largest and most notorious camps located at Dumburum forest in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Abutu Yaro, who displayed the surrendered weapons on Tuesday, also displayed 14 motorcycles and camouflaged military uniforms.
They were said to have been recovered from the bandits, who reportedly blocked Zamfara Funtua road, on February 2, to rob commuters.
He said the submission of the weapons further demonstrated that the peace initiative of the State Government was yielding fruits.
He urged other bandits from other locations to embrace the peace accord and surrender their weapons.
