THE newly appointed service chiefs have been charged to evolve pragmatic strategies to overcome the various security challenges facing the country.

The Vision Centre for Communication and Development Advocacy (VICCDA), a Non-Governmental Organisation, in a statement in Kano, expressed optimism that the military chiefs would deploy their wealth of experience in counter terrorism and anti-insurgency to curb terrorism and other criminal activities.

“The present breathe of fresh air in the military top bracket will usher in an era of a safer Nigeria where the people can go about their daily activities freely,” the NGO said in a statement signed by its Acting Chairman, Gbenga Onayiga.

VICCDA urged the new service chiefs to be dedicated and committed in the onerous task of securing the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

“Curbing the various security challenges bedevilling our dear country like terrorism, armed banditry and kidnapping should be given priority, while the general public should also pray for and support the new service chiefs,” the Center said.

The Vision Center for Communication and Development Advocacy (VICCDA) is a non-governmental organisation working to promote good governance, improving journalists’ ethical conduct, capacity building towards entrepreneurship for self-reliance and catering for distressed journalists.
