CORRUPTION has worsened under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the last one year, the latest ranking released by Transparency International has revealed.

The TI Corruption Perception Index, released on Thursday, showed that Nigeria dropped three places, its worst ranking in recent years.

The country scored 25/100 which is one point less than the 26 points scored the previous year, and was rated 149 out of 180 countries.

In 2019, Nigeria was ranked 146th out of 180 countries, with 26 points out of 100.

Zero, in TI’s rating, means ‘Very Clean’ while any country rated 100 is ‘Very Corrupt’.

The CPI assessed 180 countries on the basis of perceived corruption in the public sector.

According to the latest report, Denmark and New Zealand are the least perceived corrupt countries, with 88 points each, followed by Finland, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland, with 85 points each.
