THE Federal Government has commenced the final verification of former employees of liquidated Nigeria Airways.

The verification exercise will be carried out by the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit in the Federal Ministry of Finance, in conjunction with the Ministry of Aviation.

The Ministry of Finance disclosed in a statement that the verification exercise would be the last it would carry out in verifying ex- workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways who had genuine claims but had yet to be paid.

Director, PICA, Bashir Harisu Mohammed, who addressed the former workers of the liquidated airline in Kano, was quoted as saying, “The exercise is in furtherance of the Federal Government’s determination to ensure that all former public workers, especially those of liquidated agencies, who had genuine and legitimate claims were not denied of such.”

He said the PICA was responsible for conducting the verification exercise, adding that it carried out the first verification and payment of the verified staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways in November 2007.
