ONE of the 43 people arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, a few days ago, at a night club in Victoria Island, for violating COVID-19 protocols, Ipadeola Oriyomi, has disclosed that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Oriyomi, a social media influencer, raised the alarm on Instagram that he was returned to the cell, where others were kept, after testing positive, instead of either being isolated or taken to an isolation centre.

He said the ‘offenders’ were tested for COVID-19 after more than two days in custody and his result came back positive.

Oriyomi therefore cried out that his health was in danger, including that of the others in the cell with him.

“They took us to Maroko Police Station where we slept overnight before they transferred us to Oshodi Taskforce…I have been in Oshodi Taskforce since Monday. They tested us yesterday for COVID-19. The test came out today and it shows I’m positive,” he said.

THE POINT had reported that the Lagos State Police Command was preparing to prosecute 43 clubbers, including strippers, who were arrested at a night club on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday night.

Police operatives, on the order of the Commissioner of Police, had arrested the suspects for “clustering and clubbing” without regard for COVID-19 protocols.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

“The Police operatives attached to Maroko Division, on the order of the Commissioner of Police, went after the deviant clubbers and got them arrested in the club, clustering and clubbing without any regard for the COVID-19 protocols,” Adejobi said.
