A Jetty Port will be built in the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State before the end of the first tenure of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, in February 2021.
According to a release by Akeredolu’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ojo Oyewamide, the project is to ensure the movement of equipment for the exploration of the bitumen deposits in the state from Apapa, Lagos State.
He said bitumen had been discovered in the southern part of the state for more than a century, but all efforts of the previous governments to explore it failed until the jinx was broken by the Akeredolu government.
According to the media aide, the government is intent on industrialising the Sunshine State with a view to making it self-reliant.
