THE Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has sacked all political appointees from Ivo Local Government Area of the state.

Former Senate President, Pius Anyim, is from Ivo, the affected Local Government Area.

Umahi, in a public service announcement, signed by the Secretary to the State Government/Coordinating Commissioner, Ugbala Kenneth Igwe, approved the removal from office of the appointees, in line with what he described as keeping with the policy of inclusive governance.

Recall that Anyim and the Governor had been at loggerheads over the latter’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, and the refusal of Anyim and some other Ebonyi stakeholders to join the Governor in his new party.

This, The Point learnt, might be the main reason for the Governor’s latest action.

The sacked kinsmen of Senator Anyim include all Senior Technical Assistants, Technical Assistants, all liaison officers and all management committee members from Ivo Local Government Area, The Point reports.

The statement ordered the affected office holders to hand over all Government property in their possession to the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner by the close of work on Wednesday, 2nd December, 2020.

The statement said, “In keeping with policy of inclusive governance, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi, FNSE FNATE, has approved the removal from office of the following political office holders from Ivo Local Government Area:

“They are: All STAs and TAs from Ivo Local Government Area. All Liaison Officers from Ivo Local Government Area. All Management Committee members from Ivo Local Government Area.

“The affected office holders are to handover all Government Property in their possession to the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner by the close of work today, 2nd December 2020.”
