THE reign of terror by hoodlums, which began shortly after the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki tollgate, in Lagos State, seems to be far from over, as hoodlums, again, on Sunday night, wreaked havoc on many streets in the Mushin area of the state.

The miscreants, who were said to have stormed the area in large numbers, reportedly vandalised and looted scores of shops and damaged over 20 vehicles.

Areas affected, according to eyewitnesses, included Awawu, Olusoga and Daniel streets, among others.

A resident of the area, who identified herself as Shola Azeez, told The Point that everyone in her house could not sleep, owing to the fear that the hoodlums could force their way in.

“Some people said the thugs came from Idi Araba to attack us here. There was noise everywhere. They looted the shops along this area, damaged the locks and sheds too. Police should please come to our aid in this area. We’re tired of not being able to sleep,” the resident said.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said her shop was looted, and many hair attachments and other accessories carted away.

She said, “I live not too far from my shop. No one could go out when they stormed the area. I learnt that over 40 shops were vandalised and raided. The criminals also damaged our vehicles. The people that are taking stock have said the damaged vehicles are over 20.

“Some people even called the Police but they did not come. Everyone is afraid now that they may return.”

Efforts to get the official response of the Lagos Police Command were not successful as of the time of filing this report.
