LEADER of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has distanced himself from reports that linked him to the destruction of properties belonging to Nigerians from the South-West.
Kanu said he never gave the order for hoodlums to destroy any such property, saying that his message was deliberately twisted by his adversaries to tarnish his image.
According to the leader of the pro-Biafra group, the same people who caused the division between the late Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe, during their time, are the same people weaving stories together to pitch the Igbos against the Yoruba nation currently.
He therefore urged the entire Igbo as well as his followers to ignore the news credited to him and guard against any destruction in the ongoing #EndSARS protests across the country.
Kanu spoke on Thursday during an emergency Zoom meeting with the theme, “#EndSARS is not an ethnic protest, stop the propaganda to make it one.”
He blamed those he called agents of the Federal Government for the adulteration of parts of the broadcast he gave, claiming that they were out to create the impression that he had turned the #EndSARS protests to an ethnic one against the Yoruba nation.
He urged Nigerians to listen to the full length of his broadcast to understand the context.
