GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved the full reopening of worship centres in the state.

In the same vein, the Lagos State Government okayed the reopening of cinemas, spas and other recreational centres on Saturday.

Sanwo-Olu said, during a briefing that mosques could hold their prayers five times daily and that churches could also commence weekly services.

The Point had reported that the Lagos State Government approved the opening of mosques and churches, on August 7, only to commence their Friday and Sunday services.

With the latest announcement of full reopening, the governor told the religious leaders that they must adhere strictly to safety protocols released by the government.

Religious centres, cinemas, spas and other recreational outlets were shut by Government in March to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, who disclosed the reopening, however, added that cinemas and other recreational outlets must obtain the necessary clearance from the state safety commission before reopening.

According to him, cinemas must observe COVID-19 safety rules and keep to 33 per cent of their maximum capacities.

“Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announces resumption of cinemas, spas and gyms in the state. Cinemas must, however, keep strictly to 33 per cent of their capacities. They must get the necessary certification from the Lagos State Safety Commission,” he said.
