THE traditional ruler of Ugwulangwu Autonomous Community in Ohazara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, His Royal Highness Romanus Iyioku, has advocated inclusion of women in community policing to ensure security in different parts of the country.

In a chat with The Point in his palace, the royal father described women as effective instruments in crime detection and prevention, assuring that they would achieve the desired aim if accommodated.

Eze Iyioku, who is also the Chairman, Committee on Community Policing, Ebonyi South Zone, said he had made a proposal to the state government to introduce what he called Ebonyi Women in Security (EBWIS) as this, according to him, would go a long way in achieving the purpose of the Committee.

He stressed that women should not be looked at as weaker species, but should be valued as God’s creatures with great potentials capable of re-shaping the society.

The traditional ruler said, “When you see where women are delivering babies, you will agree with me that they are very strong people. Actually, you will pity them as they shout and tumble in pain, yet they are very strong and effective in securing lives and property. The countries ruled by women in the world today are some of the best because women don’t like killing or having their children killed.
“So, EBWIS, as I proposed, if the governor approves it as part of the present security apparatus, will be superlative in achieving greater results in Ebonyi State. Let me tell you this, if women want to take money, they will not take all because they consider many things before they take money, either legally or otherwise; they will not take all because they consider many things before they take any action whether in political leadership or not.

“You know that the present security challenge we have today across the globe was recorded in the Bible when one of the children of Adam, Cane killed Abel, his brother. This is the genesis of the present security challenges we have everywhere and when the government thought of community policing, I advocated that women should be involved to make it holistic.”

Eze Iyioku used the medium to thank the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, for his developmental strides and security of lives and property.

“You see, the governor is a great man and he remains indelible in the annals of history. He has changed the narratives of the state through monumental infrastructures and this is what great people do. We should understand the difference between great men and strong men. Great men last and they appear once in a generation,” he said.
