THE remains of Senator Buruji Kashamu were laid to rest in his Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State home at about 12.55pm on Sunday.
Kashamu, who represented the Ogun East Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, died on Saturday, at the age of 62, at the First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, in Lagos.
Many sympathisers visited the home of the popular Ogun politician despite the COVID-19 protocol guidelines, as he was buried amid wailings by those who said he had touched their lives in various ways.
Among dignitaries that paid their last respect to Kashamu at the burial were Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, represented by Alhaji Abdul-Majeed Ekelojumati, and Senator Gbenga Kaka, among others.
“His demise further diminished the tribe of my close political associates. He was a large-hearted politician and courageous fighter for whatever cause he believed in. He was not just a loving personality, a generous giver and someone who lived for others, he was to many a beacon of hope of a better tomorrow. This painful exit is much more than the end of an individual,” Abiodun said in a condolence message.
