The Police in Osun State, on Thursday, dragged a teenager, Olorunfemi Seun, before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Modakeke area of the state for allegedly being in possession of a generator and deck player.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Ona Glory, told the court that the 18-year-old defendant was found with the items and could not produce receipts of purchase when demanded.
Seun was said to have been found with the items on July 14, 2020 around 6:30pm at Boosa area, Modakeke-Ife.
Glory said the defendant was unlawfully in possession of the small blue-coloured Tiger Generator and Aiwa Deck player without receipts.
The prosecutor argued that the teenager committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 430 of the Criminal Code, Cap 32, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful possession.
Magistrate A.K. Oyawale granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till August 8 for hearing.
