The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has received a certificate of decontamination and disinfection for its swift response to staff safety as well as its efforts at containing the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
The certificate, duly signed by the Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar, was issued to the Board for putting in place the necessary precautions to safeguard the lives of its staff in line with the protocols of the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON).
Presenting the certificate to the Registrar of the Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who was represented by the Director, Test Administration, Dr. Yussuf Lawal, the minister, represented by the Assistant Director, Environmental Health, Mrs. Chris-Benjamin Uche, said the certificate was in honour of the proactive measures taken by the Board to decontaminate its offices nationwide with a view to curbing the spread of COVID-19.
The Board had, in full compliance with the directive of the Federal Government instituting a partial resumption of work, sought the services of the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) to decontaminate all its offices nationwide.
As such, for those that want to pay at the JAMB Office, they would need to have an ATM card to facilitate the payment process or in the alternative, they could proceed to a commercial Bank to do so
Recall that the Board also installed disinfectant sprayers, Pedal-Operated Hand Washing Machine in its offices to ensure that no staff or client is unnecessarily exposed to the virus.
Meanwhile, the JAMB has created a One-Time Password (OTP), which temporarily replaces biometric verification through the use of fingerprints.
This, according to the Board, is to help candidates have access to services, which may include payments, as all payments for any of the Board’s services must be made on its platform.
“As such, for those that want to pay at the JAMB Office, they would need to have an ATM card to facilitate the payment process or in the alternative, they could proceed to a commercial Bank to do so. As soon as payment is successful, an OTP would be sent to the candidate’s phone after which he or she can complete the process,” the Board said in its Bulletin.
The OTP temporarily replaces biometric verification by way of fingerprints as a means of curbing the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.
Candidates are, therefore, urged to take advantage of these innovations to access any of the Board’s services they desire unhindered.
However, for services, complaints or inquiries that do not require physical contact, the Board’s online ticketing platform is accessible through www.jamb.gov.ng.
