Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has directed schools in Lagos to re-open from August 3, 2020, for the transitional classes.
Disclosing this in a televised press briefing on Friday, the Governor said students in Senior Secondary School Three and Technical School Three would resume first.
According to him, Primary Six pupils and Junior Secondary School Three students will resume a week or two weeks after the senior students’ resumption.
He, however, said tertiary institutions would remain closed, while the state government would continue to support online teaching during this period.
Sanwo-Olu said, “Students in the transitional classes who have mandatory public examinations ahead of them will be permitted to resume for revision classes and examinations. The commencement date for this will be from Monday, August 3rd.
“All educational establishments are to follow the guidelines for the reopening. We just finished a very serious meeting with stakeholders in the educational sector for the reopening.”
“School authorities are expected to prepare well for resumption from now till August 3,” the Governor stated.
