A granite laden truck on Friday crushed an army officer identified as R. A Nata’ala, to death in Iyana Mortuary area of Abeokuta in Ogun State
The accident occurred at about 10:30am.
An eyewitness said that the truck with registration number JJJ 833XW lost its break and swerved off the road to crush the soldier, who was on his motorcycle.
The eyewitness explained further that the truck was coming from Ajebo-Idi-Aba road and heading towards Ijaye when the truck rammed onto his motorcycle and killed him on the spot.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the occurrence of the incident.
Akinbiyi said that the truck lost control of its breaks and crushed the soldier on his motorcycle with the registration number PKA 567 QD after hitting a Mazda car marked APP 272 DH.
He noted that the truck after losing control hit the Mazda car before hitting the motorcycle.
The TRACE Spokesperson however said that the corpse of the soldier had been deposited at the Mortuary of the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the truck driver has been arrested.
