The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recognised Mrs. Ola Williams, popularly known as Iron Lady, the Woman Leader of the Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organisation in the 2019 elections.

The Sanwoolu Campaign Organisation Woman Leader and President, Sanwoolu Babes Asiwaju for Life Strong Men and Women, who was, along with others, honoured by the governor, was recognised for her outstanding contributions towards the successes recorded by the All Progressives Congress at all levels of the polls in the state, particularly the governorship election.

At a ceremony tagged ICG Mega Victory Party, held at the Police College, Ikeja, to appreciate the leaders and stalwarts of the party for their efforts before and during the elections, the governor said he was overwhelmed by the efforts put in place by everyone, which led to his emergence.

He also thanked all Lagosians for believing in him, adding that the trust they (the people) had to have voted for the APC would be rewarded through unprecedented delivery of dividends of democracy.

Sanwoolu assured that his government was ready to ameliorate the problems confronting Lagos residents, adding that he was ready to drive the state to a more enviable position in the next four years.

The governor, who presented Certificates of Service to the recipients, said amid cheers, “This is a thank you event. I’m here to formally say a big thank you to everyone who has directly and indirectly contributed to the success our party recorded in this last elections.  “When the journey began September, last year and into the elections and after, it was all peaceful.

“My administration, from Thursday, the day after my inauguration, which comes up on Wednesday, will start work in earnest. Youth empowerment, construction and rehabilitation of roads, renovating and equipping of our schools for better output, health facilities, proper sanitation, and many other things will be given quick attention.”

Sanwo-Olu maintained that there would not be room for laziness, adding that all hands must be on deck to jointly move the state forward.

“If you are an artisan or in any profession, endeavour to be the best. If you are a teacher, health worker, sweeper, musician, actor, engineer, anything whatsoever, ensure to be the best. Our government will not condone laziness; everyone must be hardworking to bring the desired overall development in all areas of our state.”

In her remarks, Williams, who spoke to our correspondent shortly after the ceremony, said the success at the polls was a victory to all Lagosians.

She commended the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for his wisdom, support and love for all, stressing that the development being witnessed in the state was as a result of his unparalleled legacy and leadership.

She also expressed optimism in the governor, saying that his administration would be fulfilling.

Williams said, “We have known Babajide Sanwoolu before now and we are convinced that he will deliver. He’s a man who’s kindhearted, generous, a core party man, a good listener; someone who loves to see people, progress, irrespective of the class you belong. He’s not like some people who disregarded the people, the party and its stalwarts because of their own individual gains.

“With Sanwoolu in the saddle, Lagosians can be rest assured that no stone will be left unturned towards achieving a far greater and better Lagos, compared to what we have at the moment under the present leadership.”
