Wife killer bags 4-year jail term with hard labour

An Ebonyi State High Court sitting in AbakalikI, the state capital has convicted a father of two, Mr James Uguru, to four-year imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of his wife, Jacinta Uguru.
The convict, who hails from Nduebor Inyimaegu in Izzi Local Government Council Area of the state, was said to have been instrumental for the death of his wife on February 5, 2016 following a disagreement and fight between them over allegation of infidelity against his wife.

Mr Uguru, who was convicted on the March 18, was said to be having his dinner after the day’s activities on February 5, 2016 when the wife’s mobile phone reportedly rang.
His resolve to know the person who had called his wife was, however, resisted by the woman thereby leading to a serious fight between the estranged couple.
The man had allegedly vowed to send the woman back to her parents’ house the following day.
Our Correspondent gathered that the woman had, however, died in her sleep before the following
morning.
The estranged husband was charged to court for the alleged murder of his wife.
The prosecutor said he committed a crime punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 33 Volume 1 Laws of Ebonyi State Nigeria
2010.
The court sentenced the accused person to four years imprisonment with hard labour starting from February 22, 2016 being the first day of his arraignment on the matter in court.
