Policemen attached to Ijora – Badia Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arraigned 13 accused persons over alleged robbery in the Lagos metropolis.
The Investigative Police Officer, Inspector Omotayo James, said the accused persons committed the crime recently at Church Street, Ijora Badia, Lagos.
The 13 accused persons are Qudiri Bashorun, 28; Sikiru Soliu, 25; Ibrahim Kazeem, 24; Audu Shetima, 48; Kazeem Ayebusi, 29; Friday Dennis, 25; Abba Abubakar, 23; Mustapha Ismail, 23; Efe Onos, 31; Barnabas Matthew,18; Mohammed Adamu, 18; Babagana Alli, 28 and Ismail Muhammed, 31.
The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, while reading the charges against the accused persons, said they “unnlawfully conspired to commit armed robbery thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The second count read that the accused persons “unlawfully inflicted injury with cutlass on one Taiwo Gbadegesin (male) and collected the sum of N100, 000.00 and one Ipad, valued at N85, 000.00, from him by shooting gun and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 297 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
The third count said the accused persons inflicted injury with cutlass on one Sunday Adefehinti and forcefully collected the sum of N150,000 from him by shooting.
The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 297 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The police said the accused persons inflicted injury with cutlass on one Biola Opaowoeye (female) thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 297 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused persons were alleged to have unlawfully been in possession of three cartridges of live ammunition; weed suspected to be Indian hemp; two sewing machines; two police belts; one police uniform; motorcycle spare parts; three plasma televisions; three ATM cards of different banks and one cheque book belonging to one Animashaun Amori (female).
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.O. Olubi, denied the accused persons bail.
The case was adjourned till January 14, 2019.
