Two in court for stealing laptops, chargers

Policemen attached to Ajeromi Police Station, Lagos have arraigned two men in court for allegedly stealing laptops and laptop chargers valued at N420, 000.00.

The two accused persons, Jamiu Ibrahim, 30, and Babatunde Kazeem, 40, are facing a four-count charge in an Apapa Magistrate
Court.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt Friday Inedu, the two accused persons  committed the offence at about 11am, at No. 37, Ogungbe Street,
Ajegunle.

Inedu said the accused persons conspired “to commit felony and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 409 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

On the second count charge, Inedu said the duo  broke into the house of one  Ekulum Ugochukwu “with intent to commit felony therein and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 310 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State
2015..”

The third count stated that  the two accused persons unlawfully damaged ceiling boards worth N50, 000.00 property of one Ekulum Ugochukwu thereby committing an offence  punishable under Section 348 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Also, the accused persons allegedly stole eight laptops and 25  laptop chargers valued at N20, 000, all totalling N420, 000, property of Ekulum Ugochukwu thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 285 (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.,
2015.”

The two accused persons pleaded not guilty to the four counts.

The Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Babalola, granted the duo bail in the sum of N50, 000.00 each with two sureties that are gainfully employed saying the sureties should have verifiable addresses and valid tax
clearance.
