The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku, has vowed to reclaim all the assets of the state sold by the incumbent administration of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, if he’s eventually elected in the 2019 elections in the state.

Maku said this at a meeting with members and stakeholders of APGA in Doma Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

The APGA governorship candidate, who is a former minister of information and the national secretary of his party, said that since the state had not been put up for sale, he had decided to reclaim the common patrimony of the state sold to individuals.

He also said that the assets were the state’s share of the properties inherited when Nasarawa was created out of Plateau State in 1996.

He also said he would bring back the liquidated Nasarawa Investment and Property Company.

Maku explained that the company was managing all government hotels and other businesses within and outside the state before it was liquidated.

He said, “No state in the country can survive solely from the Federal allocation. So, it is the company that would manage business for government to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“We will bring it back, reposition and strengthen it by establishing more cottage industries that would be managed by the company to generate employment.”

The APGA gubernatorial candidate in the state also added that under his watch there would not be indiscriminate sale of lands because the state was not for sale.

He, therefore, assured members of the public that he would prioritise security, employment, promotion of civil servants and infrastructural development, among others.

Recall that on September 25, the state House of Assembly approved Gov. Tanko Al-Makura’s request to sell Nasararwa State properties in Lagos, Jos and Kaduna, citing their continued dilapidation and deterioration as reason for the action.
