A 20- year- old man, Ikenna Bright, has been dragged before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening to kill two men.
Bright was also charged with stealing the property belonging to the two men and valued at N652, 500.
Bright and others now at large, were said to have committed the offence at about 2: 30am at number 52, Turner Street, Ajegunle, Lagos.
The accused person was brought to the court by the Investigating Police Officer attached to Layeni Police Station, Sgt. Simon Agada, to face a three count-charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the accused person and others now at large “did conspire together to commit felony to wit; stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
In the second count charge, Aigbokhan said the accused person and others now at large “did threaten to kill one Emmanuel Ojinaka ‘m’ and one Sylvester Ogbonna ‘m’ with a cutlass and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 56 (g) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
The police also said that the accused person and others now at large “did steal one original bill of laden of a Toyota Venza 2012 model, Toyota Camry 2010 model , and a cash sum of N335, 000 (three hundred and thirty five thousand naira).”
The prosecutor also said that other stolen items include, “Home theatre valued at N70, 000 (seventy thousand Naira) ,Samsung X5 handset valued at N13, 000 (thirteen thousand Naira), laptop valued at N75, 000 ((seventy five thousand Naira), three Itel phones valued at N83, 000 (eighty three thousand Naira), two wrist watched valued N8, 000 (eight thousand Naira), necklace valued at N1,5 00 (one thousand and five hundred Naira), a cash sum of 32, 000 (thirty two thousand Naira), total valued N652,500 (six hundred and fifty two thousand and five hundred Naira), properties of one Emmanuel Ojinaka ‘m’ and one Sylvester Ogbna and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 280 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State,
2015.”
The accused person pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Joy Ugbomoiko granted the accused person bail in the sum of N250, 000, with two sureties, a relation of his with proof of tax clearance and who must be gainfully employed.
