The police in Lagos have dragged a 36-year-old man to Apapa Magistrate Court, in Lagos State for swindling a woman of her N380, 000.
The accused person, Vincent Chukwuma, is facing a three-count charge for defrauding one Endurance Odenore under the pretext of supplying her weavons and women wears valued at N380, 000.
Chukwuma was arrested by policemen attached to the Satelite Police Station and brought to the court by Inspector Afolabi Olalekan.
In the first count charge, the Prosecutor, Inspector Bassey Sunday, said Chukwuma and others at large committed the offence at about 0700hrs, at Abule- Ado bus stop, Satellite Town in Lagos
State.
According to the first-count charge, Chukwuma and others now at large did conspire among themselves “to commit felony to wit; stealing and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
In the second count, the prosecutor said Chukwuma and others at large “did obtain the sum of three hundred and eighty thousand Naira (N380, 000) from one Endurance Odenore ‘f’ under the pretext of supplying the following goods :-(1)Weavons and (2) Women Wears, a presentation which you know to be false and thereby committed an offence Punishable under Section 314 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,
2015.”
The 3rd Count charge said that the accused person and others still at large “did steal the sum of three hundred and eighty thousand Naira (N380, 000), property of one Endurance Odenore ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,
2015.”
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
