Two minors have been caught in a compromising position at night on the Beach in Lekki, Lagos State.
The two minors, simply identified as Segun,13, and Bose, 12, were allegedly apprehended at about 8.30pm at the Gbara side of the beach by some older persons, who flogged them for the illicit act.
Segun was said to have been given 12 lashes of the cane, while Bose received six strokes on her buttocks.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Kamoru Adegbesan, disclosed that the two minors were residents of Osapa London, off Victoria Island – Epe Expressway, Lagos.
Adegbesan said he and his three friends were on the beach, when they saw the minors hugging and chasing each other on the shore.
According to him, one of his friends, Jude, at first said the two minors could be mermaids and that they should hide to see what they were up to.
He said his second friend, Laja suggested that they should ran away from the beach because mermaids could be harmful.
Adegbesan said Jude disagreed with that saying, “If they were mermaids we should be happy because mermaids bring good luck to people. He now sang in low tune the music of Victor Uwaifo: ‘If you see mammy water eh, never never run away…’ He said that we should watch them if they would dive into the sea, then we would pour the sea sand on the water or throw any substance to let them know that we saw them and then wait to see what they could do. They might bless us with gifts.
“We all decided to observe them because they were too small to be playing at that part of the beach at that time of the night, if they were real human beings. Suddenly, they began to kiss each other. Within a twinkle of an eye, the girl unzipped the boy’s trousers, pulled it off along with his underwear. She also pulled off his shirt.
“She turned her back at the boy, probably asking him to unzip her gown, which he did. The girl pulled off her underwear. Turned around and held him and they began to kiss. We were astonished. As if that was not enough, the boy made her to lie on her back on the beach. They then began to make love. Laja suggested we leave them alone, but Jude said no. Since they are minors, we must apprehend them and teach them a little lesson.”
Laja told our correspondent at Gbara community that he suggested they should be apprehended and flogged.
He said, “We ran and grabbed them from behind. Jude quickly seized their clothes. Adegbesan held the boy, knowing that the girl could not runaway stark naked. They began to plead with us. Adegbesan suggested that we should take them to the Ilasan Police Station at Jakande Estate, Ilasan, Lekki. I insisted that we should flog them first. I was the first to bring out my belt, threatening to drag them to the station if they refused to be flogged. He asked them to lie face down. They said they live at Osapa London. They live opposite each other in different residence.
“I gave the boy 12 strokes of the cane while Jude gave the girl six strokes, because she is a girl. Both of them cried. We gave them back their clothes to put on. We accompanied them out of the beach, for their safety. We also left the place. We only went to the beach to discuss business and also receive the fresh air at the beach. I live at Maiyegun, Adegbesan lives at Gbara while Jude lives at Ilasan Estate. It was a surprising experience that kids of that age should leave their parent’s home to engage in such illicit and immoral act on the beach at that time of the night. Ritualists could abduct them and use them. I pity their parents.”
