According to them, the pupils may experience diminishing returns in terms of their mental alertness and productivity as a result of the long hours of academic exercises they are exposed to in school and at home. An Associate Professor, CurriculuDepartment, University of Lagos, Dr. Rosita Igwe, sees the development as rather unfair on the part
of the children.
She told The Point that the curriculum should take cognizance of the age of a child, adding that “if it is overwhelming, it will affect the mind of the child, the productivity
will reduce and most times, it creates a scare on them.”….
