The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, organisers of The Oscars, has included a new category in the awards ceremony.
And the newest category to be contested for at the 2020 Oscars is the “Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film” award.
The Academy’s board of governors announced the introduction of the new category as one of the changes to the Oscars in a report of its activities.
The board of governors also announced that the telecast of the awards ceremony would now be limited to three
hours.
The limitation of telecast time literally interprets to presentation of some awards off-air – as it is done in the MTV Movie Awards.
The board of governors also announced a change in the date of the 2020 Oscars to February 9, 2020, an earlier date with shorter voting window.

awards.
The actress, alongside Nigerian filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi [Battleground, Gidi Blues), are among the 928 people, who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science.
