housewife, Sarah Olaleye, has told a customary court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, that her husband, Pastor Olabode Olaleye, has been in the habit of sleeping with women who consult him for spiritual assistance in his church.

Sarah, who was dragged before the court by her husband for divorce, said Olabode was fond of having extra-marital affairs with women, especially those he asked to go for spiritual bath at the river.

The estranged housewife also alleged that her husband was not only having sexual relationship with his female clients, but also had secret relationship with his church members.

She told the court that Olabode’s attitude of having extra-marital affairs with women deepened, when he was transferred to another parish of his church in Osun State.

The mother of one said that she was constrained to go with her husband when he was transferred to Osun for fear of being abandoned or left alone in his mother’s residence in Abeokuta.

She claimed that her husband, who had married three women with four kids before they met, gave her drugs to abort her baby when she got pregnant for him, adding that it was her knowledge of nursing that saved her life.

Sarah said, “My husband is fond of sleeping with women who come to him for spiritual bath. He is having extra-marital affairs with one Bose in his church and that one usually brings food for him to the church; that is how he sleeps with women in his church.

“When I got pregnant for him, he came to me and brought different drugs for me to use for abortion. It was when I almost died that I stopped using the drugs.”

Olabode, in his defence, said that there was no iota of truth in his wife’s claims, saying that due to her jealous and troublesome nature, his wife had scared away most of his church members at the parish in Osun.

He said that all the allegations levelled against him by his wife about having extra-marital affairs with his female clients were “lies from the pit of hell.”

The cleric said though he was away on some spiritual work when his wife gave birth to their only child, he asked one Alhaji to organise a befitting naming ceremony for the new baby.

He also denied ever giving his wife any drug to terminate her pregnancy.

The cleric was seeking to divorce his wife on the grounds of her frequent fighting and threat to his life.

He said, “It is a lie. I did not sleep with women in my church and the ones I do spiritual work for. My wife is too troublesome that she always fights every member of my church, especially the women, alleging that I am having extra marital affairs with them. She has chased away some of my church members because of her hot-tempered habit.

“There was no time I gave her drugs for abortion. She is only lying; she did not even tell me that she had once given birth to any child before I married her.  I want to divorce her because of her troublesome behaviour, curses, abuse, frequent fighting and threat to my life.”

The President of the court, Chief Akande. O.O, granted the prayers of the cleric and dissolved their two-year-old marriage.
