Ekiti gov poll: INEC declares Fayemi winner with 197, 459 votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, declared the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the winner of the July 14 governorship election.

The Returning Officer for the election, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, said Fayemi had satisfied the requirement of the law by polling the highest lawful votes in the election.

Fayemi polled 197, 459 to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, who scored 178,121 votes.
