A Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has criticised the Federal Government for discarding the report of the 2014 National Political Reform Conference.
Turaki made his position known in Abakaliki while addressing the Eboyin State Executive Committee of the PDP, party bigwigs from across the state and delegates to the party’s national convention.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the Turaki Campaign Organisation, Sola Atere, told our correspondent in Abuja that the PDP presidential aspirant, who was a member of the 2014 Confab, noted that the report would have assisted the government in dealing with the issues of devolution of power, resource control, restructuring and other issues that had triggered the current injustice, tension and violence across the country.

“It is better to jaw-jaw (dialogue) than war-war,” he said.
He lamented the betrayal of the people’s trust by the ruling All Progressives Congress, which he argued had inflicted poverty, economic hardship, insecurity, disunity, injustice, despotic and insensitive leadership on the people.
Turaki expressed regrets that Nigerians had now boarded a “One chance vehicle” of deceit.
The PDP presidential hopeful restated his commitment to addressing the issue of creating an additional state in the South East, adopting a more functional strategy to tackle insecurity and economic downturn, and also rebuild the trust and confidence of the people in themselves and in the leadership.
He stressed that the PDP needed to present a standard bearer with integrity, vision, who is well-educated and knowledgeable, and who is a unifier and dynamic enough to cope better with the burden of leadership than the present leadership in the country.
Turaki, however, warned that wresting power from the APC in 2019 would not be a ‘tea party’ as its members lacked democratic credentials.
The chairman, Eboyin State PDP, Barrister Onyeka Nwabonyi; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, who represented the governor; and other party bigwigs, gave assurance that they would support only aspirant who possessed those qualities listed above in order to beat the APC candidate and also meet the aspirations of Nigerians.
