A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, has said his first task, once elected President in 2019, would be to redefine the 1999 Constitution, and make it a people’s constitution.
He said the Constitution as currently drafted, was a product of the military, pointing out that it had yet to address critical problems in the polity.
Ojajuni, a lawyer from Okitipupa in Ondo State, was once an AD governorship candidate in the state, and at another time, a House of Assembly contestant in the Kosofe Area of the state, also on the platform of the AD.
Unveiling his agenda, aimed at transforming the country, in an interview with our correspondent, Ojajuni said, “I have good news for the Nigerian youths: I will provide 10 million jobs through foreign direct investment in various sectors of the economy, and If I don’t complete that in three years, or be around the corridor of above average on this promise, I’ll resign.”
He particularly berated the APC administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly the President’s recent condemnation of some Nigerian youths, saying, “He failed woefully because many in the international community know that Nigerian youths are very hardworking, intelligent, intellectuals and are articulate in all ramifications of human endeavour.
“It is unfortunate that a president could make such an autocratic statement against the integrity of over 15 million youths, who gave him their votes in 2015.”
Ojajuni also noted that he would not be deterred by the presence of a cabal in the Nigerian system as per swaying the decision of voters or devising rigging methods, noting, “We have a solution to the issue of cabal, come 2019.”
The politician who said he would officially declare his presidential aspiration on May 30, also remarked that “it is totally satanic for the APC and the PDP to determine my life and the lives of Nigerians” through their zoning arrangement, which tend to cede the presidency to the North.
“I have gone through the 1999 Constitution and I have not seen where it is written that Southerners or Northerners must finish eight years. That makes no sense,” he stressed.
