Former Liverpool wonderkid, Jordon Ibe, has not entirely ruled out the possibility of representing Nigeria in future, according to reports from his country of birth, England, as Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has extended a world cup invitation to the striker.

The Bournemouth winger refused to pledge his allegiance to Nigeria when he was approached by former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh in 2015, saying as at that time that he would prefer waiting for a call-up to the Three Lions.

When the Nigeria Football Federation made contact again with Ibe shortly after his move from Liverpool to Bournemouth for £15million in 2016 but he wanted to settle into his new team.

Current Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has offered the Cherries number 33 a ticket to the 2018 World Cup if he commits his international future to Nigeria over England.

After finding things tough in his maiden season at Bournemouth, Ibe has impressed this term, making 33 appearances in all competitions and has been directly involved in ten goals (2 goals, 8 assists).

Former England youth-team stars Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Victor Moses later chose to play for Nigeria’s senior team and are set to be part of the country’s 23-man roster for the World Cup.

Born in London, Ibe has represented England’s U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams and has to file a one-time switch with FIFA if he decides to suit up for Nigeria.
