A suspected cultist attack has left one person dead in Egbeda community, Emohua local government area of Rivers state.
Spokesman of the state police command,Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed this on Thursday.
He said the attack, which occurred in the morning, also left an unconfirmed number of persons injured.
“It has to do with cult rivalry; (it was) against themselves. Some persons were also injured in the attack but we’ve not been able to get the number of persons,” he said.
“By tomorrow we will have the full details of the incident.”
However, there are reports that five persons died in the attack.
Rivers has come under serious security threat in recent times.
Thursday attack comes three days after 17 persons were killed during an attack by gunmen in the state.
Nyesom Wike, governor of the state governor, had placed a N200 million bounty on the perpetrators.
President Muhammadu Buhari had also ordered security agencies to ensure the masterminds of the attack are fished out.
