For Beverly Naya, following one’s passion gives one self-fulfillment. This decision, the delectable actress and video vixen says she took a few years back and which has made her career a huge success within a short while.
The British-bred Nigerian actress started her acting career at the age of 17, while studying philosophy, psychology and sociology at Brunel University. She also studied script-writing and film-making at Roehampton University, but she returned to Nigeria because of the rapid growth of Nollywood and the opportunities that it creates for aspiring actors.
“After my graduation, I knew I could have secure a white-collar job in any company of my choice out there, but I believe I would not have found peace and satisfaction doing so. But in Nigeria, it is different. So, I decided to come back to my own country here where I know that I will always be accepted, appreciated and loved. Those are the major reasons why I came back. Though I love where I grew up, I appreciate all the things I have learnt and willing to apply them here in Nigeria,” she says.
Though born to Nigerian parents, Beverly, who hails from Ibuzo, an Igbo-speaking area of Delta State, was raised in England. She had her formal education in the United Kingdom. She graduated from Roehampton University in London, where she studied Script writing and Film making. Prior to that, she had studied Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy for her first degree at Brunel University.

The 28-year-old reveals that the people who have mentored her into what she is today, include Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah, having had to watch them performing outstandingly among their colleagues over the years.
“Aside from Genevieve and Ramsey Noah, who are my mentors, I have also worked with prominent entertainment stars like Bukky Wright, Desmond Elliot, Wale Ojo and OC Ukeje, to mention a few and for which I am grateful,” she says.
In addition to acting, Beverly is also a lover of fashion. Therefore, fashions, she says is a means of expression. She adds that fashion gives people the kind of personality they have. So, that is why when you are putting things together, you should endeavour to put them together properly.
“I love fashion, name it: good clothes, shoes, makeup. But when doing all these, remember you are expressing who you are to the world. So, you must put them well so as not so send the wrong vibes to people,” she says.
Of course, this fashionista of an actress, has since then featured in many movies. She has a couple of awards to her name. She won the award for “Fast Rising Actress” at the 2011 City People Entertainment Awards. She also won the “Most Promising Talent” category at the 2010 Best of Nollywood Awards. She was nominated for the 2014 ELOY Awards for TV Actress of the Year for her role in the Nigerian series, Tinsel. She also starred in the 2014 Nigerian romantic comedy film entitled “When Love Happens,” alongside Gideon Okeke and Desmond Elliot.
