The Emir of Gusau, in Zamfara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, has blamed the prevalence of social vices and thuggery amongst youths on the failure of the political class to fulfill their campaign promises to the electorate.
The Emir, who spoke while receiving the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji, in his palace, said that the proliferation of thuggery and other social vices had continued, particularly among the youth, as a result of the failure of some leaders to fulfill their promises to them.
“Failure of political leaders to fulfill such campaign promises could likely be responsible for people to develop lukewarm attitudes in election processes,” he added.
The monarch also appealed to the people in the emirate to develop keen interest in the ongoing voter registration and collection.
“The voter card is your weapon to elect right and credible people to lead you,” he said.
