Police arraign 24-yr-old driver for crushing teenage pedestrian in Osun

The police in Osun have dragged a 24-year-old driver, Ishola Wasiu, before an Osogbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly crushing a teenage pedestrian to death.
The police prosecutor informed the court on Wednesday that the accused person drove recklessly on the public highway on August 28, 2017 at Kajola Area, Osogbo, while driving a Lexus RX 330 model.
He accused Wasiu of flouting traffic rules before the accident allegedly occurred.
The young driver was said to have hit the 14-year-old boy along the highway.
It was gathered that the victim died few days after being rushed to a private hospital in the area.
Inspector Rasaq said the offences committed contravened Section 81(1) and punishable under Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act Cap. 115 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2003.
Wasiu pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The defense counsel, Bola Abimbola, prayed the court to commit Wasiu on bail and in affordable terms.
Ruling on the bail application, Magistrate Fatimah Sodamade, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum and thereafter adjourned the case till October 18, for mention.
