…says party on path of rebranding
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rural Development, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has charged members of the Peoples Democratic Party Caretaker Committee for Ogun State to chart a new path for the party.
Adebutu, who congratulated those who made the list of the SCC for the state, advised the members of the committee,  who have been saddled with the responsibility of conducting an all-inclusive congress, to midwife the birth of a State Executive Committee that would rebrand and reposition the PDP.
The lawmaker urged the committee members to discharge their assignment meritoriously by conducting “a very fair, open, transparent and credible congress” to accommodate all interest  and reconcile all factions.
According to him, PDP had been one big political family which, no doubt, had been troubled over the years by infighting, resulting in its fortunes nosediving.
The perennial crisis, he said, caused the party to lose most elections in Ogun State in 2011 and was also responsible for its defeat in the 2015 general elections, especially the Presidential poll.
The recent Supreme Court judgement, he said, had, however, provided another opportunity for the party to re-set and bridge the gap of strained relationship among its members.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the Caretaker Committee consists of men and women of proven integrity. These are experienced politicians capable of discharging their historical responsibility of rebranding the party and building trust and confidence across the divides,” Adebutu said.
