An Osogbo Magistrate’s court presided over by Mrs. Adenike Olowolagba has remanded two men for robbing residents of Ayegun community, in Ila-Orungun, Osun State.
The accused persons- Tiamiu Wasiu, 31 and Yusuf Akindele, 27, were arraigned on Wednesday by the police in the state on a five-count charge bearing on conspiracy, felony and armed robbery.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Mustapha Tajudeen, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on July 3, 2017 at Ayegun area in Ila- Orangun.
Tajudeen said the two accused persons armed themselves with guns and robbed one Abdulraheem Sikiru of an infinix phone valued at N87,000 and a cash sum of N520,000.
Also, they were accused of also robbing one Adebayo Kehinde of one Techno phone valued at N26,000 and cash sum of N3,730.
The accused persons were said to have been in possession of one locally made pistol and live cartridge while attacking the victims.
The prosecution argued that the offence committed was contrary to Sections 6 (b), (1) (2) (b) and 8 and punishable under Sections 1(1) and 27(1) (b) (ii) of the Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap Rll volume 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The plea of the accused persons, represented by one barrister Dada Adeyinka, was not taken.
Olowolagba, however, ordered that they be remanded in Ilesha prison custody and adjourned till September 19. She said the matter is to be mentioned at Ila-Orangun Magistrate court.
