The Zamfara State Government has approved over N3billion for the construction and renovation of 114 primary and secondary schools across the state.
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Murtala Adamu Jangebe, announced this at a press conference shortly after the contract was awarded to indigenous contractors by Governor Abdul- Aziz Yari Abubakar at Government House Gusau, the state capital.
Jangebe said the objective of the state government was to secure conducive atmosphere for both teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools, especially at the grassroots level across the state, thereby ensuring quality education.
He further stated that befitting office accommodation would be provided to 10 local government councils. They are Shinkafi, Zurmi, Maradun, Birnin Magaji, Maru, Talata Mafara, Anka, Kaura Namoda, Gummi and Bukkuyum.
The SUBEB chairman stressed that the state government had concluded arrangements for the purchase of 7087 units of tables and chairs for both classrooms and staff offices across primary and junior secondary schools in the state.
