The Founder and National Coordinator of the Youth Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture, Mr. Ogirinye Innocent, has described the agriculture sub-sector as the “untapped goldmine” that can revive Nigeria’s ailing economy.
Innocent said that agriculture was the only viable alternative that could sustain this country and ensure food sufficiency and security, if the youth could change their mindset, especially the unemployed graduates, who erroneously believed that agriculture was mainly for ageing peasant farmers.
Speaking with our correspondent in Benin, the YISA coordinator added that the non-governmental organisation has muted the idea of Agripreneurship Incubation and Mentorship programme, its technical cooperation and flagship empowerment programme, with the Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria Universities, to help change this mindset.
