The People’s Democratic Party has lost another member in the House of Representatives to the All Progressives Congress.

The member, Amos Magaji, who represents Jaba/Zango Kataf Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, premised his defection on the crisis rocking the major opposition party in the country.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas who presided over the plenary session on Tuesday read Magaji’s letter of defection on the floor of the house.

“The unresolved crises in the PDP from the national to the state level has made it difficult for me to remain in the party,” Magaji said.

Magaji is the third member of the PDP that has crossed over to the APC since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly after Chris Nkwonta and Eriatheke Ibori-Suenu, from Abia and Delta States respectively.

Kicking against the defection, the Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda asked the speaker to declare the seat of the Kaduna lawmakers vacant in line with the provision of the constitution.

Citing section 68(1g) of the constitution, Chinda said members of the house were lawmakers and law breakers, stressing that while the law allow any member to leave the platform on which he was elected, it also spelt out the consequences associated with the action which include losing his seat.
